AN Oldham delivery man who stole up to £6,000 worth of football stickers has been ordered to pay £1,500 in compensation.
Stuart Ankers (37), of Welcome Parade, stole more than 50,000 World Cup Panini stickers from the Smiths News warehouse in Bredbury over several weeks.
Ankers pleaded guilty to theft at a previous hearing and was sentenced to 150 hours of unpaid work, given a three-month curfew and ordered to pay £85 costs by magistrates in Stockport.
Ankers had a job collecting magazines from the warehouse to distribute to shops in the region. He started helping himself to Panini boxes, each worth £600.
Warehouse bosses carried out stock checks and realised significant numbers of stickers had gone missing. They caught him on CCTV.
