AN Oldham homeless charity is set to benefit from a £1.6 million cash pot to help young people into housing, education and work.
Oldham Young People’s Pathway will be able to support more than 30 disadvantaged homeless people thanks to the Government’s Fair Chance Fund programme money awarded to its parent charity, Depaul UK.
The Oldham project will receive a substantial share of the money to ensure long-term solutions are found for housing, training and employment needs.
To be eligible for the fund, young people need to be homeless, between 18 and 24 and not in education, training or employment.
Councillor Dave Hibbert, Oldham Council’s cabinet member for housing, planning and transport, said: “This funding is very positive news for Oldham. The money will help support vulnerable people in society and help address their needs.”
