Arson threat probe over Evans deal
Date published: 23 January 2015
A YOB threatened to burn down the building of an Oldham Athletic sponsor days before the club pulled out of signing convicted rapist Ched Evans.
Greater Manchester Police are investigating an anonymous call made by a man to a club sponsor on January 5.
The caller said the company’s building would be burned to the ground if the controversial deal to sign convicted rapist Evans went through.
Anyone with information about the arson threat should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
