THE first stage of the exciting Prince’s Gate development at Oldham Mumps is taking shape.
A planning application is soon to be submitted seeking permission to create a new park and ride facility to replace the current one.
The car park will be the first step in the new development, of which the centrepiece will be a 51,000sq ft Marks and Spencer food and clothes store.
M&S will be built on the current park and ride and the like-for-like replacement will be built across the road on land off Regent Street.
Oldham Council has already agreed a land-swap deal with the landowners, Transport for Greater Manchester.
The new park and ride site will provide 254 spaces — the same as the existing site in a two-storey structure.
Prince’s Gate at Oldham Mumps also includes plans for up to 800 homes, including apartments, and approximately 700 car parking spaces overall.
