Two women were arrested on suspicion of murder in the early hours of this morning.
Police were called to a block of flats in Littlemoor Lane, Littlemoor at 1am following a report that a 55-year-old man had suffered a serious injury. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The women, aged 34 and 54, were arrested on suspicion of murder. They remain in police custody for questioning. A post-mortem examination will be carried out to establish the cause of death.
Detective Superintendent Tony Creely said: “I want to offer reassurance to the community that we have made quick arrests following this man’s death. At this stage, we are not looking for anyone else.”
Stunned residents this morning said they heard nothing of the disturbance.
One neighbour who lives opposite the house said: “The man who lived there was lovely. He always said hello and was very friendly. I’m stunned that it’s happened.”
