Strike to halt trams

TRAMS will grind to a halt for 24 hours next week following a Metrolink staff vote to strike over a pay dispute.
Unite members will walk out from end of service on Tuesday night. There will be no trams on Wednesday and services will resume on Thursday morning.
Workers have received a 10 per cent pay increase over the past three years but have refused to accept a 3.5 per cent rise over the next two years.
