Man, 72, a three-time victim

CALLOUS thieves have targeted a terrified Oldham pensioner three times in only two weeks.

On the third time the 72 year old heard a knock at the front door early on Monday evening. A voice said it was the police so the victim opened the door - and the thief rushed past him then demanded money.

The pensioner was left terrified and handed over more cash before the offender ran out.

The attacker is described as a light-skinned Asian man, around 5ft 6in and of medium build, aged 20- 25. He was clean shaven, had dark eyebrows and brown eyes and wore black woollen gloves, a creamy brown, waterproof anorak and navy jeans.

The pensioner had previously been a burglary target twice between January 20-30. During one of the incidents he woke up to find a man in his room demanding money. The intruder searched the room and stole his wallet.

Earlier he had been a target when a woman claiming to be police knicked at the door and claimed she had caught someone trying to climb his drainpipe. When the victim opened the door they both walked into his house and stole his wallet.

Det Con Alex Brown, from Oldham police, said: “These offenders are callous and have no regard for this vulnerable man. They’ve shared his details and identified him as a target.

“He’s living in fear of the next time the offenders might break into his home or come to his door.”
