‘Beast of Bolsover’ hails NHS at Labour fundraiser

VETERAN Labour MP Dennis Skinner was a guest speaker at a party fundraising event in Oldham.
Debbie Abrahams, MP for Oldham East and Saddleworth, invited the Labour icon — who has represented Bolsover, Derbyshire, since 1970 — to the Blue Tiffin Restaurant, Royton.
The MP - nicknamed the “Beast of Bolsover” - used the event to discuss the NHS and spoke of the “United Nations heart bypass” he underwent in 2003 - from a Syrian cardiologist, a Malaysian surgeon, a Dutch doctor and a Nigerian registrar.
Mrs Abrahams said: “Dennis gave a barnstorming speech in which he reminded us why we need a Labour government if we are going to save the NHS and tackle the deficit in a fair way.
