We won’t give up fight for school funding

OLDHAM Council chiefs have vowed to continue the fight for funding to rebuild Clarksfield Primary School and expand Greenfield Primary following the government’s rejection of its initial applications.
The council applied for the money for both primary schools in the latest round of the Priority School Building Programme (PSBP) — which will also fund the new £19 million Saddleworth School.
They also applied for funding from the same programme to rebuild Royton and Crompton School — which has been granted.
Councillor Amanda Chadderton, Cabinet member for education, said the fight for funding for these two schools isn’t over: “The scheme was oversubscribed and these bids weren’t successful. We will lobbying the Government again at the earliest possible opportunity.”
