Werneth decision day at the Queen Elizabeth hall.
A PANEL has chosen which community groups will get a share of £30,000.
A total of 27 community groups from Werneth bid for funds, 15 of which are set to get a share of the money offered by Oldham Council and Oldham Police.
The 27 groups presented their projects to residents at the Queen Elizabeth Hall.
The scheme has helped build stronger communities around the world by giving local people decision-making powers in their areas.
Included among the successful bidders are Werneth and Freehold Community Development Project, Community Website, Pakistani Community Centre, Werneth Children’s Centre, Werneth Football Team and St Thomas’s Free Breakfast Club. Werneth and Freehold Community Development Project received most votes.
Julie Holt, a public health specialist working with Oldham Council, said: “By coming together residents have made this a really positive and memorable event. We are now going to work to provide different funding for all the community groups.”
