St James Parish Church: the Rev Lynne Connolly is delighted at new grant.
A SHAW church’s prayers have been answered with a £120,900 repair grant.
The Heritage Lottery grant means St James parish church in East Crompton can make the building draught-proof and watertight.
The church, consecrated in 1847, has just had its final social event before building work starts this week and runs until July.
In 2010 English Heritage gave a £124,000 grant for the church roof’s repair, but the company doing the work went bust and the job remained incomplete. The new money will allow the work to be finished.
