A FORMER Oldhamer who spent 62 years in the town will celebrate her 100th birthday with a special family gathering on Saturday.
Edith Hargreaves grew up in Clarksfield before moving to Horsham, West Sussex, in 1977 to be closer to her family.
Edith met her husband Wilson at Wesleyan Church as she worked as a secretary for a school in Greenacres.
Later in life, with two grown-up children living away, five grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, the Hargreaves moved closer to their daughter Denise in Horsham.
Wilson, who Edith married in 1940, died in 1995. Edith will celebrate her milestone birthday with a celebratory family lunch, with a few surprises from younger family members.
