Schools to make the grade
Date published: 06 March 2015
SCHOOLS in Oldham could leap up the education league tables next year following changes to the way performance is measured, says a new report.
Researchers say the new Attainment Eight progress measures could see a sharp rise in how well Oldham schools perform.
Schools are currently judged on their performance by the number of students who achieve five A* to C GCSEs. Attainment Eight judges school performance across eight subjects regardless of the final grade.
From 2016 the eight will be English and maths, three from science, computer science, geography or languages, and any three other GCSE choices.
An individual’s result in each of these will count towards a school’s performance.
