Women’s Day invitation
Date published: 06 March 2015
WOMEN of Oldham are being invited to celebrate International Women’s Day on Saturday.
Organised by Oldham Labour Women’s Forum, the event will feature speakers discussing women’s issues in the performance area at Oldham Library.
The free event, on the theme “Women Make it Happen”, will be opened by Debbie Abrahams, Oldham East and Saddleworth MP.
Speakers will include three members of Oldham Council’s all-female management team, including chief executive Carolyn Wilkins.
The event runs from 2.30pm-4.30pm and will feature stalls, activities and stories from women who live in the area.
It follows the success of last year’s International Women’s Day event in the town, in which dozens of women spanning different cultures, ages and areas joined together to celebrate women’s achievements over the decades and inspire new ideas for the future.
