Chance to be a carnival star

Date published: 10 March 2015

Organisers of this summer’s Oldham Carnival and RootZ Festival are inviting volunteers, local artists and companies to get involved.

The carnival, on June 14 at Alexandra Park, will feature live music, dance competitions, funfair rides and charity stalls. Around 30,000 people are expected to visit the free event. Organisers are urging people to sign up to get involved, either as a performer, volunteer or commercial stall holder.

Already booked to appear are the Oldham Tinkers, who celebrate 50 years of performing folk music in the town during 2015. Top Manchester reggae band Extra Love will also return to the festival after a hit performance at the 2012 show.
