FORTY-FIVE staff at an Oldham interior fit-out company in administration have been made redundant.

Maxim Creative Group, based at Osborne Mill, was the subject of a management buy-out last year. Former sales director Michael Christopher McVey became managing director after acquiring a majority stake. The Osborne Street business had worked with clients including Manchester United, Kellogg’s, Odeon and Nike.

Administrator Matthew Dunham said: “It simply ran out of cash.”

Assets of the Maxim Creative Group have been acquired by newly-incorporated company One Design & Build.

Mr McVey, the sole shareholder of One Design & Build, said a mixture of ovrdue payments and buy-out costs left the company without working capital: “I had no other choice but to make the staff redundant so they could claim backpay, redundancy and notice payments from the Government.

“I am trying to take something forward meaning some of the jobs can be saved and grow again from a smaller operation with no legacy issues.”
