Farewell to Hilda, 101

Hilda Barrott
A GREAT-grandmother and former Oldham businesswoman, has died aged 101.
Hilda Barrott was born in Royton in 1913 and lived with her parents and six other siblings. She married Fred and the couple went on to have children Peter and Sheila.
She ran a successful hairdressers in Shaw from 1940 before moving to Cornwall with her husband, and moved back north when he died.
Hilda was manageress of Economy Shoe Stores in Oldham Market Hall until the hall’s destruction in 1974. On retirement she moved to Grasscroft, then Delph. At 96 she moved to Avonleigh Gardens Residential Home in Watersheddings.
Hilda’s funeral will take place on March 24 at Rochdale Crematorium.
