Oldham’s spectacular view of the eclipse

Eclipse over Oldham.
OLDHAMERS got the spectacle they were waiting for this morning — an almost clear view of the solar eclipse. At the peak of the eclipse an eerie twilight descended.
The event, which will not happen for again in the UK for another decade, started at around 8.30am as the moon slowly blocked out the sun. There was a fear that the weather would remain overcast but the clouds parted enough to give Oldham a stunning view of the event.
