OLDHAMERS are urged to Stand Together on Saturday to stamp out hatred and prejudice.
The Mayor of Oldham, Councillor Fida Hussain, will lead a peaceful vigil in the town centre from 11am.
The event, part of a national campaign organised by Oldham Council and Greater Manchester Police, is open to anyone.
Sgt Matthew Saville, a volunteer with the part-time Special Constabulary at Oldham police station, said: “Officers from Oldham police station and Oldham Council staff will form a line, effectively standing together in support of our intolerance of hate crime and shared passion for integration and diversity.
Anyone keen to take part should meet outside Boots at 10.45am.
