Charity ball raises £10,000

RUGBY league legend Barrie McDermott was among the guests at Kingfisher School’s ninth annual charity ball.
Nearly 170 people attended the event at the White Hart, Lydgate, which raised £10,000 for the Chadderton special school.
The evening was hosted by Oldhamer and TV presenter John Stapleton and his wife and fellow TV presenter Lynn Faulds-Wood. Other guests included Oldham East and Saddleworth Labour parliamentary candidate Debbie Abrahams and her husband, ex-Lancashire cricket captain John Abrahams, Mayor of Oldham Fida Hussain and Granada Reports entertainment correspondent Caroline Whitmore.
Entertainment included magicians, a singer and a band. There were also top auction prizes — from a tour of Granada TV with Caroline Whitmore to tea on the House of Commons terrace.
