Former Grange school: to become the site of a new primary
PLANS to demolish the former Grange School and build a new 630-space primary school will go before Oldham Planning Committee on Wednesday.
Last year, Oldham Council agreed the former Rochdale Road school will be demolished to make way for a new £7.5million primary school. The two or three-storey sponsored academy will have space for 630 pupils and 26 nursery places, subject to approval.
The school itself will contain 20 classrooms, a hall, offices, kitchen, staff room and a practical science room as well as storerooms for PE and other equipment.
The need for a new primary school in Oldham was highlighted after research found that there will be a demand for an extra 140 places in the reception year in the borough by 2017-18.
