FRIENDS, family and fans of actress Anne Kirkbride can pay tribute to her at a memorial service next month.
The service, which will be attended by the “Coronation Street” star’s on-screen husband William Roache, will be at Manchester Cathedral on May 30 (11.30am).
Anne, who honed her acting skills with Delph Junior Players and Oldham Youth Theatre (now Oldham Theatre Workshop) before taking an assistant stage manager role at Oldham Rep, died in January following a battle with cancer. She was 60.
An ITV spokeswoman said: “Cast and crew will celebrate Anne’s life alongside her family and members of the public who would like to pay their respects to the actress who brought so much joy into everyone’s lives as Deirdre Barlow.”
At the time of her death Anne, who had beaten throat cancer in the past, had been away from our screens for a few months.
Corrie scriptwriters say they have now come up with a fitting way to screen Deirdre’s exit from the ITV show that will honour her 42 years on the show.
