FINISH line: Erin Heywood and Andy Rudkin following the Manchester 10k run
FORMER Chronicle reporter Erin Heywood will put her best foot forward to raise cash for The Christie in memory of her mum.
The 25 year old will run the Manchester Marathon on Sunday in the hope of raising £300. Erin’s mum, Alison died in February 2011 of cancer, and was cared for by The Christie.
Erin said: “I’ve decided to put myself through a marathon. It’s been a long, hard slog and has involved lots of training through the winter months, but the support I’ve had has kept me motivated and on track.
“The Christie is a great charity that cared for my mum before she passed away. The work this charity does to help cancer sufferers in this country is outstanding but they can’t do it without help.
Last year Erin and her boyfriend Andy Rudkin - another former Chron reporter - raised £445 for The Christie with a series of sponsored challenges.
