School in running for top UK award

NORTH Chadderton School could be named the best school in the country.
The school has been shortlisted for the Times Educational Supplement’s annual schools awards at London’s Grovesnor House Hotel on May 19.
North Chadderton is up against seven other schools in the secondary school category. The winner will go forward for the overall school of the year award.
North Chadderton has been nominated recently being named one of the top 90 schools for sustained GCSE improvement, and for improving the results of disadvantaged children. It also raised more than £10,000 for Dr Kershaw’s Hospice in Royton.
North Chadderton is the only secondary school in Oldham to have received the national Governor Mark award, which recognises the work of its governing body.
Head teacher Joy Clark said: “I’m absolutely delighted — I didn’t for a minute think we would be shortlisted. I’m so proud of everybody connected with North Chadderton.”
