3,100 scramble for 23 homes
Date published: 27 April 2015
MORE than 3,100 people applied for 23 homes at a new Oldham housing development - revealing the desperate local demand for housing, says New Charter Housing group.
Each property received well over 100 bids, and one of them 192. The applications, for affordable homes in Greenfield, were made by people on the social housing waiting list betwen November and January.
The £2.5m Mere Close development off Ainsworth Road has 23 three-bedroom homes, built for New Charter’s Oldham-based housing association Aksa Homes.
