Police arrest 14 in the war to get drugs off Oldham’s streets
FOURTEEN people were arrested in dawn raids across Oldham today in the war against drugs.
At 5.30am officers raided 15 homes in Coppice, Primrose Bank, St Mary’s and Clarksfield and five addresses in North Manchester as part of Operation Plumbline.
The arrests came after months of investigations by officers from Oldham’s Organised Crime Team and Serious Crime Division into the distribution of heroin and crack cocaine in the Oldham area.
Ten men and four women were arrested on suspicion of supplying class A drugs, and police have seized drugs with a street value of £5,000. The 14 remain in custody for questioning.
Insp Paul Walker of Oldham Division led the operation: “This sends out a message that we will never give up on our fight against this type of crime. Drugs cause widespread destruction to users and have a wider impact on the community. This operation has taken months of intricate planning and dedication by a large team of officers from across the Force.”
