IT’S neck and neck in the race to win control of Number 10 if the Failsworth “muffinometer” is to be believed.
Bakers at Robinson’s in Ashton Road East have created muffins for each party and are monitoring sales.
Customers can choose raspberry (Labour), blueberry (Conservative), lemon drizzle (Liberal Democrat), blackberry (UKIP), courgette and carrot (Green) and fruit and nut (Monster Raving Loony Party).
And with just a week until Oldham goes to the polls, the muffinometer is showing a tie between Labour and the Tories.
Owner David Robinson said: “We do this every time there’s a General Election and customers always get into the spirit of things. It’s a straight tie between red and blue at the moment but the Green Party muffins are also selling really well.
“Last time the Lib-Dems won the muffinometer and ended up holding the balance of power in 2010.”
