Luke Beswick: charity run
AN inspirational Lees lad is turning heartbreak into hope to honour the memory of his stillborn sister.
Luke Beswick (10) was devastated when his mum Jayne Kennedy and her partner Gary Lord lost baby Daisy last April.
Luke, a pupil at St Thomas’s Leesfield Primary, decided to put all his efforts into training for the Greater Manchester Run at Heaton Park on Sunday to raise funds for Oldham Sands, which provides support to those affected by the death of a baby.
Jayne, of Turner Street, said: “We wanted to help the charity to raise money to carry on its excellent work. Luke wanted to be involved and he absolutely loves sports, so the run is perfect for him.
“He said he wants to make Daisy proud of him. I can’t put into words how immensely proud the whole family is of Luke. I can’t wait to see him cross that finish line.”
Luke has already more than doubled his £100 target. To sponsor him visit www.justgiving.com/jayne-kennedy6.
