New hair salon venture is a cut above

A HAIR salon owner has created jobs with the opening of new premises in Ashton Road, Oldham.
The David John Salon has been launched by David Lindley (28) who grew up in Hathershaw and attended St Augustine’s School as a youngster.
Mr Lindley’s early hairdressing training began in Oldham and he later had more training in London with Vidal Sassoon. He has worked in towns and cities including Leeds, Milton Keynes and Warrington, and was a salon manager for seven years.
He said: “We are creating jobs and have invested money in the business, which is all very positive.
“We recently held a launch event with guests and we have had some great feedback from customers. It’s an exciting time.
“I have full-time and part-time staff here and I hope to take on another employee. Stacey Baker works on a part-time basis and wanted to get back into hairdressing after working in other areas.”
The salon also employs Janet Cowen, April Crimes and Niome Lindley.
The Ashton Road property has been home to hair salon businesses for 25 years. The owner of the previous business, Ann-Marie Murphy, now runs Rio Beauty in Moorside.
The Get Oldham Working campaign was launched by Oldham Council to create 2015 job, apprentice and training opportunities across the borough by 2015. The campaign has now met its target but, given the success, is continuing to run throughout the year.
