Ten fined for school absences

Ten parents were fined a total of more than £3,300 for failing to ensure their children attended school regularly.

The following were each fined £400 and ordered to pay £95 costs and a £45 victim surcharge

Rangful Begum, of Widdop Street, Westwood; Carla Boothroyd and Jack Cooper, of Higher House Close, Chadderton; Deborah Brooker, of Littlemoor Lane, Waterhead; Lynette Gittens, of Cormallen Grove, Failsworth; Julius Oracko, of Lee Street, Oldham; Pardalion and Tudorita Sorica, of Eton Avenue, Hathershaw.

Anna Ondova of Siddal Street, Oldham, and Charlene Riley, of Fairway Road, Holts, were each fined £73 and ordered to pay costs of £95 and a £20 victim surcharge.
