Our House a big hit with townsfolk

OUR House, the country’s first ever weekly payment store run by a social business, has enjoyed a highly successful first week in Oldham.
The store, which sells furniture, electrical items and white goods, opened in the Tommyfield Market last week.
Staff say weekly prices are up to 50 per cent cheaper than other high street rent-to-own stores and there are no late fees.
Oldham Council is supporting Our House, which is run by FRC Group, in an attempt to stop residents turning to loansharks and pay-day loan companies.
Gary Thomas, Our House Oldham store manager, said: “It’s been a fantastic opening week for Our House. We have lots of interest from Oldham residents, in fact so much interest that we’ve been making appointments with people so they don’t have to wait around to speak to our customer service advisers.
“The sales have been higher than our projections and more importantly we have had great interest in our value range, the Our House products which offer the biggest savings for our customers.
“The staff in store are all from Oldham so we are really proud that Our House is already making such an impact and helping so many local people.
“We look forward to helping many more new customers in the days ahead.”
