CHADDERTON has become a powerhouse of culinary prowess.
Three of its cooking exports will be starring at next month’s northwest Foodies Festival at Tatton Park - including this year’s BBC MasterChef, Simon Wood.
The Chadderton father-of-four, who cooked his way to the title in April, will prepare some of the dishes that brought him the top prize.
Simon (38), who quit his job as a data science analyst shortly after winning “MasterChef”, will appear alongside top chefs, restaurateurs and food producers.
He said: “I had so much support from local people while I was on ‘MasterChef’ — it was quite overwhelming — so I’m delighted to be able to make my debut cooking demo near to my home.”
Fellow Chaddertonians and sisters Helen and Lisa Tse, who own Sweet Mandarin restaurant in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, will also appear at the event, on July 17-19.
The pair run a cookery school and demand for their allergen and gluten-free sauces is so high they now export them around the world.
Former “Coronation Street” actor Sean Wilson, who owns the Saddleworth Cheese Company, will also be at the three-day festival. Last year a record-breaking 25,000 people attended the event.
