THE 30th anniversary of the Saddleworth Village Olympics is celebrated this September - and organisers are on the hunt for local sporting heroes to help them mark the milestone.
The event sees hundreds of children represent the different areas of Saddleworth in a range of sports.
Former England and Lancashire County Cricket fast bowler Kyle Hogg, former Leeds Rhinos and Oldham rugby league stars Kevin and Ian Sinfield, and 2012 Olympic swimmers Jessica Lloyd and Ben Procter have all taken part over the years.
Adrian Green, central committee co-chairman, said: “The thing that makes the Saddleworth Village Olympics stand out is that it caters exclusively for young people and embodies the very essence of what community spirit should be all about — team work, friendship and a sense of pride in yourself and your surroundings.”
This committee is looking for local sporting heroes who would be willing to support the event or present trophies. For information visit www.saddleworthvillageolympics.co.uk
