GREEN CAB! This year’s Oldham Bloom and grow centrepiece
OLDHAM’S newest Bloom and Grow centrepiece is already being hailed a success ahead of this year’s competition entry.
The borough hopes the town centre display, an iconic Hackney cab design, will “fare well” with the judges as they attempt to take home the North-West in Bloom Best City title for the sixth year in a row.
This year’s showstopper aims to showcase the best of the borough and how Oldham Council, residents, businesses and stakeholders are working together and driving change.
Councillor Barbara Brownridge, cabinet member for neighbourhoods and co-operatives, said: “Once again the Bloom and Grow centrepiece has the wow factor and we think it really shows that Oldham is going places. Residents who see this will be really impressed — and I’m sure the judges will be too when they visit.”
The town centrepiece, which also features a traditional red phone box, will stay on show throughout the summer after which it will be reused elsewhere in the town.
