AFTER beating the game’s greatest-ever player, darts fan Scott Needham enjoyed some VIP treatment.
The 26 year old, who has Down’s Syndrome, attended An Evening with Phil Taylor in November and took on the 16-times world champion.
The game was played by “Scott’s Rules” — Phil started on 501, Scott on 301 with no double finish, and a bullseye at any time for Scott would win him the Match.
After a couple of rounds with Phil throwing in the 100s, Scott lined up his throw. His first dart hit 19 - and his second was the bullseye!
As a result Scott was made an honorary member of the Target Stockport College Darts Academy.
Scott was also invited to join the other academy players in the VIP area at last week’s World Match Play Darts tournament in Blackpool.
Scott’s dad Stuart said: “That night Phil was playing his first round match and came off stage a 10–2 winner. He walked past Scott, came over and said: ‘You’re the guy that beat me!.”
Phil invited Scott back for his second-round match later gave him the signed dartboard from his match with Andy Hamilton.
But Scott’s biggest thrill of the evening was to meet the Walk-On Girls — something his dad says he has been waiting to do for a long time!
