Village bids to find its voice
Date published: 10 August 2015
LOCALS are being invited to reignite a community voice in a key Saddleworth village.
A meeting to form an Uppermill Residents’ Association will be held tonight at Uppermill civic hall (7.30pm).
Called by Saddleworth parish councillor Graham Sheldon, the event is open to anyone interested in being involved with the group or its committee.
Uppermill is currently the only Saddleworth village without a residents’ association and Councillor Sheldon, backed by fellow councillor Pam Byrne, is keen for one to be formed.
The village’s postmaster revealed his plan at Saddleworth Parish Council’s monthly meeting. Later, he said: “The residents’ meeting is open to all and will be a great move forward to shape the future of the village.
“I encourage all residents, local businesses, youth, sport, and church groups, plus individuals to attend and share their views.”
