FOOTBALL matches on Chadderton’s newly-refurbished Crossley Playing Fields kicked off in style with a tournament and celebration day to mark the official reopening.
Youth football teams from Oldham faced each other on the impressive new facilities, which were renovated with £500,000 in grants and funding.
The money enabled Oldham Council to improve all five pitches and installation of a new drainage system. Alterations were also made to changing rooms on site, which are now compliant with Football Foundation standards.
The Mayor of Oldham, Councillor Ateeque Ur-Rehman, and Mayoress Councillor Yasmin Toor, officially declared the pitches open and praised everyone who had worked hard throughout the redevelopment process.
The official opening was also marked with a Chadderton Day celebration event, complete with circus skills, stalls and live music from Chadderton and District Brass Band.
