REGULAR cinema screenings in Mossley are a step closer after community arts centre The Vale took delivery of theatre-style seating.
The 60 red velvet seats have come from the Muni theatre in Colne as part of a £56,000 refurbishment project. Eagle-eyed Leon Patel, a partner in The Vale, spotted the redundant chairs on eBay and contacted the theatre. When Tony Dodd of Pendle Leisure Trust heard Leon’s plans he cancelled the online auction and donated the seats to The Vale.
He said: “When I heard what Leon and his partners are doing in Mossley, I was only too pleased to support them,” Tony said. “I’m glad the seating is going to a good home.”
Five volunteers are now refurbishing the seating for the launch. From Thursday The Vale will be running a programme of events called Film Plus.
Leon said: “We’re going to be showing bi-monthly films for both adults and families, with prices starting from £3. Every film will be accompanied by a workshop or practical activity. We’re currently programming in a laughter workshop, a ghost walk and themed craft sessions for children.”
