A passer-by discovered the 51 year old near a lamp-post in Westfield Street near Burnley Lane at around 9pm. Officers and paramedics found the man conscious but badly hurt. He was taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital with head and neck injuries and remains in a serious but stable condition.
Det Insp Ian Harratt, of Greater Manchester Police’s Oldham Division, said: “A man has been the victim of a nasty assault. I’d urge anyone in the area at around 9pm to come forward to the police. It could be vital to finding out why this man was assaulted.”
