PLANS to turn a former Chadderton petrol station and garage into a supermarket are being met with opposition.
A petition containing 256 signatures rejects a plan to turn Chadderton Motor Co - a service station but no longer a filling station - into a Sainsbury’s Local store operating from 7am-11pm every day.
The concerns are over the general impact and traffic on the road - a report suggests there is already a “recognised problem with parking and congestion”.
David Scott, whose mother owns the garage, is hoping the plans will be approved so Sainsbury’s can buy his business and he can move on.
“This will clean up the environment and will be better for the local community.
A decision will be made by Oldham planning committee tomorrow.
