MASTERCHEF champion Simon Wood has sharpened his culinary skills with a “Latics” knife to use in his new role with the club.

The knife bears Simon’s signature and an inscribed handle and the club crest and was supplied by Bicester manufacturer I O Shen. Simon shared his delight with his new knife on social media: “It’s arrived and it’s brilliant. Thank you. I’ll give it a proper test drive later. Blue plasters at the ready!”

Simon scored the new role as Oldham Athletic’s new executive chef back in July. The Chadderton dad of four — a lifelong Latics fan — was appointed after winning the BBC contest in April.

Simon will work with the club to compile menus, a well as attending special events.
