Goalkeeper attacked
Date published: 21 September 2015
A CHADDERTON goalkeeper was savagely beaten after celebrating a clutch of awards at his team’s end of season celebrations.
David Carnell (30) of FC United remembers leaving the club’s ground in New Moston on Saturday and getting into a taxi. He was found covered in blood between two parked cars in Selkirk Avenue, Chadderton, just after midnight. The father of two was taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital for treatment to cuts and bruises.
David’s mobile phone was stolen but his keys and money were still in his pocket. Police confirmed they are investigating the incident.
