Drive-by shooting yobs target cars

YOBS with airguns have blasted the windows of five cars on a shooting rampage in Royton and Shaw.
The thugs were seen cruising Rochdale Road and Fir Bank Road.
Chloe Williamson (26) and her partner Philip Jacks (28) of Rochdale Road, were victims when their new Vauxhall Zafira was damaged on Saturday night. They discovered the damaged car on Sunday morning when Philip set off to work.
The couple only purchased the second-hand car three weeks ago following months of saving. Chloe said: “We have gone through so much trouble to buy the car and worked hard to get it and then somebody thinks it’s ok to do this. It’s a shock.
“We don’t work hard to buy nice cars for someone with a gun to think it’s ok to shoot our windows through.”
Chloe said five cars were damaged by the thugs, including that of a neighbour, who has been targeted twice in a series of weekend attacks over the past five weeks.
The couple, who run a shop in Rochdale Road, checked CCTV but couldn’t see anyone with an air rifle. They believe a group of yobs is driving round and firing since only the driver’s side windows are smashed.
A spokesman for the Greater Manchester Police confirmed the incident has been reported to police and inquiries are continuing.
