Care home criticised
Date published: 02 October 2015
A ROYTON care home “requires improvement” after an inspection by the Care Quality Commission.
Oaklands Rest Home in Shaw Road requires improvement in safety and effectiveness and was considered inadequately led.
But the home - rated “good” in caring and responsiveness categories - says it had already taken steps to rectify the issues and is awaiting reinspection.
Inspectors raised concerns about fire doors being wedged open with furniture and bathrooms being used inappropriately for the storage of equipment, furniture and other items.
A spokesperson for the home confirmed that within a week of the CQC’s visit, Oldham Fire Service visited the home and inspected and approved changes.
The home, which provides accommodation for up to 32 people, has requested reinspection by the CQC to showcase several improvements made.
