Chronicle managing editor David Whaley stood shoulder to shoulder with the editors of three of the region’s other biggest newspapers to demand a fair deal for devolution.
Mr Whaley was joined by Manchester Evening News managing editor Eamonn O’Neal, Wigan Post editor Janet Wilson and Ian Savage, editor of the Bolton News, whose papers yesterday produced matching front pages coinciding with Chancellor George Osborne’s speech on how devolution to Greater Manchester would be funded.
The quartet called for even-handed funding that would allow the region to grow under its own steam unrestricted by spending limits that would allow too little development
