A Vulcan bomber, just in case you didn't know what one looked like.
FLIGHT enthusiasts can catch a glimpse of the last flying Avro Vulcan - the XH558 - as it makes its farewell flight across Greater Manchester tomorrow.
The Cold War bomber will cross England to offer a flying farewell to thousands of fans, a route taking it over Manchester’s City Airport in Eccles tomorrow at around 3pm. If clear it will then fly past Manchester Airport (3.05pm) before flying towards Stockport to pass Woodford Aerodrome at around 3.10pm.
The Vulcan is completing a celebratory national tour to mark its final flight before it returns home to Doncaster. It is the last aircraft of the models designed to bomb Russia durimg the Cold War of the Fifties still flying. Its retiremet comes as it becomes too expensive and difficult to maintain and repair for flight.
If you wish to go to the Eccles fly-past, parking spaces are very limited and it’s advised to arrive two hours or more early
