YOUNG Latics fans took over the club for the visit of Scunthorpe United on Saturday.
The Youth Takeover Day saw youngsters try their hand at matchday announcing, running the website and even becoming a club director.
Connor McAndrew and Marcus Monagan joined commercial director Mark Moisley and chief executive Neil Joy for a day in the boardroom, while fans aged 7-12 were given a chance to go behind the scenes and had a totally different matchday experience.
Holly Madden (10) took match announcing duties while Reegan Moss put his thoughts on the game out on Twitter and will soon publish his match verdict on the club’s website.
Webmaster Reegan said: “It’s brilliant to be involved.”
Deputy head groundsman Billy Quarmby was joined by Jack Bacon (7) and Ellie O’Learly (10) to tend to the pitch.
Mark Moisley said: “This initiative is great for younger children and is one of several ideas we will run throughout the season. We’ve seen an increase in junior supporters and want to encourage further participation.”
