THOUSANDS of pints of German cider were slugged as Eintracht Frankfurt fans descended on Boundary Park on Saturday to celebrate their link with Latics and raise money for Dr Kershaw’s Hospice.
Around 25 German visitors arrived with 600 litres of cider, reinforcing the 33-year bond between Athletic supporters and fans of the Bundesliga club, who regularly visit each other’s games.
A member of the Oldham group said: “It’s remarkable that it has gone on so long, but the reason it has lasted is that we have a genuine friendship. We love to meet up with each other.”
