THE LOCAL RSPCA will eventually make this building its new home
RSPCA Bury and Oldham are using a novel approach to fundraising — by asking people to donate old or unwanted cars.
The branch. currently raising money to build a new HQ next to Strinesdale Reservoir, Waterhead, has joined Giveacar, a non-profit social enterprise which collects unwanted cars for charity.
Cars are collected free by Giveacar then sold through online auction or disposed of. Profits from the sale are donated to a charity of the car owner’s choice - and even a scrapped car can be worth up to £250.
The scheme discourages irresponsible owners from abandoning an old car. Details at www.giveacar.co.uk.
