POLICE in Chadderton took to social media yesterday to see the funny side of an attempted theft from a supermarket.

A man was arrested in Sainsbury’s, Union Street, at the weekend after filling up a trolley and trying to wheel it out of the store.

“We could understand not wanting to pay for carrier bags, but not wanting to pay for your shopping is a step too far,” said Chadderton police
